O’Connell’s injury occurred during the Raiders’ 20-15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, in which he completed 6 of 10 passes for 52 yards.

Ridder has a 64 percent career completion rate in the NFL, with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Drafted in the third round out of Cincinnati, the 25-year-old started with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Cardinals’ practice squad for the 2024 season.

Ridder’s call-up comes after Raiders backup Gardner Minshew completed 15 of 34 with 154 yards, three interceptions and one fumble recovery.

The former Falcon started 13 games last season with Atlanta, finishing with a 64 percent completion rate for 2,836 total yards, 12 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and 12 fumbles.

Ridder could suit up first for the Raiders against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at home.
